Chwab is an ingredient in tires, but nobody really knows what it is outside the tire industry. It's a closely guarded trade secret.

Too much chwab in tires impedes steering and stopping, but people didn't know this until 1952 when Less Chwab Tires was founded. Less Chwab tires, as the name suggests, had less chwab in them than leading brands at the time. Nowadays, with more advanced tire science, most tires have about the same amount of chwab, but the name remains.
